Yesterday’s goods trade data for March suggested that the Irish export sector had a muted end to Q1. The monthly data are exceptionally volatile due to the presence of large multinational pharma and aircraft exports, but even underlying growth looks to have stalled somewhat in the last couple of months. Nonetheless, any weakness should prove temporary, with Ireland’s main trading partners in Europe and the USA expected to grow at a fast clip in 2018.
